This site is dedicated to reviewing restaurants (and a few other fun places) in the San Mateo area based on how fun they are to enjoy with kids.

When we first had our twin boys in 2009, it seemed like we barely left the house for the first year… and I can count the number of times we went out to eat with them on one hand. But, now that they’re a little older we’ve gotten more adventurous and are beginning to discover some great places that we all enjoy.

Early on I always worried about taking the kids out – would they be able to wait patiently for their meals to arrive or would they squirm, yell and try to run around the restaurant? Would they try something new to eat, or turn up their noses at whatever was served? One thing I’ve learned is that 90% of the time they surprise me (in a good way) with how they behave and what they can handle. They’ve enjoyed everything from sausage to sushi and have been perfectly entertained for long periods of time by nothing more than a placemat, a few crayons, and some stories.

Oh – and that other 10% of the time? Let’s just say there are a few places we won’t be returning to any time soon, and a few waitstaff who really earned their generous tips.
